Yes I’m making a coat, it’s been a long ol’ time since I made something non corseted but it’s cold here in unsunny England. It’s not going to be just any coat either! I’m also making final tweaks to my personal corset pattern ready to make an everyday wear corset for myself.

Also don’t forget to check out the gorgeous printable corset patterns in my shop if you’re looking to get sewing yourself one.

A Coat of Many Colors?

Nope just two! I initially wanted to make this baby in just black but found some gorgeous red fabric (at discount) so I’m ombre dying it red/black, a la this design sketch I’ve done. I’ve had the pattern for this knocking about for a few years now and have been too scared to go for it until now. Wish me luck!

Being red and black isn’t going to be the only thing special about it either! I’ve decided to go all out and embroider the tops of the arms! I’ve been an admirer of the embroidery of Michele Carragher for years now. She did the costumes for the TV show game of thrones. I’ve had a go before with the lion (pictured) but for this red to black coat I’ve come up with this awesome phoenix design!

My Personal Corset Pattern

Following on from my skull corset I made months ago, I’ve finally finished the changes I wanted to make to the corset pattern. Sadly I felt I needed to let the waist out a little. I was getting bowing in the back at the waist while the top and bottom fit well, which would only have ruined the eyelets and twisted the lacing bones. I’m not a super curvy person but I plan to corset train. I’m going to reduce my waist gradually so this is a good in-between corset shape for my first corset training corset. I can make another once my body is ready, it’s a good comfort/fit balance.

This means I’ll be corset making again soon! I also haven’t forgotten I promised a panties sewing pattern and it’s been on the back burner for a while but the plan is to have it out for Christmas. In the meantime there will be a Black Friday sale at the end of this week 😉
